Earthworms

Todays topic for science was about earth worms and because it's the last week of term 3 we got to observe some worms. We had watched a video about earth worms and it was taken in britian by a lady named Emma Sherlock and she is the president of the earthworm society and earth worms are her passion.

Number              Length                      Behavious

Worm 1           est: 9cm in length         Very furious
                        1 cm in width
Worm 2           est: 4.7 in length          Nice & calm
                        1.3cm in width
Worm 3          est: 5cm in length        Also nice & calm
                        very small can't tell

This here was my small chart that I did and this was very enjoyable to do
with my partner and we had learned a lot of things in just this one day with
Dr. Jannie and Mrs. Sharma even how worms come together and mate.

Plastic 2

This week for science techngology we kind of did the same thing and also was talking about what enquiry topics we would be doing. For that we would have to like come up on what we are going to investerget and some questions that we'd be asking people to help us out on our project. We had countied from last weeks work and did the codes, but this time we had to write down the codes from largest to the smallest and write down if it can be recyeled or not.

            N.O of items     Comment

Code 1     4                   Sort of hard, but still easy to squish

Code 2     1                   Harder than the other bottles

Code 3     Nothing        Nothing

Code 4     4                   It's easy to rip and can be thrown away easily

Code 5     9                   Harder and would be difficult to break

Code 6     3                   Able to bend and easy to break

Code 7     Nothing        Nothing

Total of items: 21

The majority of plastic in a code:

Code 5 = 9

This type of plastic can't be recyeled and has to be dumped

Code 1 / Code 4 = both had 4

This type of plastic can be widly recyeled

Code 6 = 3

This platic can't be recyeled

Code 2 = 1

This type of plastic can be recyeled

This is how we had to do our work and space it out in our book.

Plastic Ocean

Today in science technology our topic was about plastic and we got a chance to sort out plastic iteams.

Method was:

  • Collect plastics over a week or a few days that are used and discarded
  • Count the number of item
  • Sort each item under the recycled code
  • Count each iteam under the recycled code
We had to get into groups of three and my groups recording was
N.O of iteams     Comment on the iteams
code 1             10                  It's hard, but still kinda easy to squish
code 2             2                    Harder and not eable to squish
code 3             Nothing         Nothing
code 4             14                  Some soft and other crispy
code 5              5                   Some are easy to squish and other are hard
code 6              3                   Able to bend
code 7             Nothing        Nothing
Total : 34

The things we had recorded was different like for code 1 there were 10 water bottles and then we had to describe it and for me that what I wrote down was it's hard, but still kinda easy to squish. We even had paper to help us out a bit for which rusbbish goes where and even how long it takes to decompose and if it's recyclable.

This week is all about Tongan lauaguage week and this morning I had

kinda made my own Tongan flag, but this I know that all classes will learn

new things and get to learn more new harder words in Tongan. Even maybe enjoy

a show of people showing off their dancing skills, singing and getting to eat some

yummuy Tongan food.

Exercising the brain

A group of people standing in front of a crowd.

This week my class has been talking about exercising the brain.

How exercise helps you with school and the benefits of

exercise, even talking about parts of the brain and how it works.

Exercising helps the brain to develop more and when you get

older you remember a lot of things. If you don’t exercise a lot,

part of your brain called the hippocampus loses most of your

memory.

If you are sporty and always active it’s well known that you are

more clever and always on task. Most of the time kids are just

born naturally smart, other kids that don’t exercise a lot have a

little problem paying attention in class.

Even babies need to exercise regularly, but because they jump a

lot their minds slowly start developing and if they start doing sports and

having morning or afternoon runs they are more likely to have sharper minds.

The only time babies actually don’t move around is when they are sleeping.

Just exercising helps you live a longer better lifestyle and maybe be

around with your family and friends for a long time.

McDonald's Chicken nugget situation

My in the UK had found parts of face masks in daughter
chicken nuggets after nearly choking on it.

The mother  Laura Arber says that she found face masks in
2 chicken nuggets out of 20. Furious mum saying “if she had
walked out for sometime and didn’t hear her daughter she
would have died”. So she had gone back to talk with the
McDonald’s manager who failed to apologize.

The face mask is soiled and you can’t even tell it’s inside of the
chicken nugget. It had been put inside by some silly person
preparing the chicken nuggets to service.

McDonald's apologized and is very sorry about the incident
and that Laura Arber would be getting her refund back.
Even saying they will have an investigation about the
whole situation.

Sport Auckland Rugby

For rugby room 6 had started off first and so what we did was grab a belt and play a game called rat and rabbit. Then we had a little practice for passing the ball and raced the other team, then we had played another game which I call netball tag where you have the ball and can't move but try and get a goal. For the last round we had a good game of ball rush, but one of the students had a little fall down.

This past week I had learnt how to find the volume of a pyramid.
I always had to know the formula because then I would know how to
mulitple and divided the numbers going through the problem.

Basic Facts Results

In my basic facts I don't stuggle with alot of things, it's that when I have to be on timed and instead of sheet I stuggle to remember the answers in my head and always counting on my fingers. Mainly when it comes to subtracting from 20 because of how fast the time goes and that most of the time when it has been marked I only get about 5 or 7 questions right, which is okay but i need to get 10 out of 10. I have to be on my curriculum level for my age and not a year 6 level.

Algebra

Today in class on my table we had done alegbra for maths and wroked as a team. Algebra is where a shape or letter take the numbers place and has a number beind it. Algebra is also like a puzzle trying to find out the missing number, doing the activite all the cards had a question and a answer to it which we had to find. After finding the right pairs we had to show our teacher and put them in order so that we could take a photo.
